There are several natural caves located on the northern
range. The Gasparee cave is situated on one of the five
inlets on the west coast. This spectacular cave has many
stalactite and stalagmite formations. The Cumaca cave
is located inland in the wooded valley of the northern
range. It is the habitat of the oilbirds .This rare specie
of bird spent daylight in the darkness of the cave when
night falls they fly out searching for food amongst the
fruit trees. A small stream flows from the cave . Two
british divers when into it to find the origin of the
stream, but they never returned to the surface. Their
expedition was on 22nd March,1954.
Lopinot cave is situated in the lopinot
valley and Aripo caves is located at the foot of the highest
mountain Cerro Del Aripo.
